This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you use Daylight Hours (daylighthours.app), how it is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep the site as privacy-respecting as possible: the core day-length tool works entirely in your browser and requires no account.
This policy was last updated on 24 June 2026.
Location. To show the day length where you are, the site may use your device's location (only after you allow it through your browser) or an approximate location derived from your IP address. Coordinates are used to calculate sun and moon times and are stored only in your browser's localStorage so the site remembers your last location. When you search for a place by name, the query is sent to our geocoding provider, LocationIQ, to convert it into coordinates.
Optional accounts. If you choose to create an account to save locations or enable notifications, your email address and saved locations are stored by our database provider, Supabase. This is entirely optional — the site is fully usable without an account.
Usage data. Like most websites, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as which pages are visited and general device information) to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our partners use them to remember your preferences, measure traffic, and — on some versions of the site — to serve advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; doing so may affect how some features work.
Some pages on this site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners. In connection with this:
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you view. This data is used in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you.
You can use the core tool without an account and without granting location access. You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser. If you have created an account, you may delete it and your saved data at any time from your account page. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you.
Location preferences live only in your browser until you clear them. Account data is retained until you delete your account. We rely on reputable providers (Supabase, LocationIQ, Google) and take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we process.
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
