Daylight Hours is a free service that calculates and displays sunrise, sunset, day length, twilight, and moon information for locations around the world. It is provided for general information, education and curiosity.
All times are computed astronomically using the SunCalc library, based on the coordinates and date you provide. The calculations are checked against an independent ephemeris on every build and the result is published on the accuracy page; the deviation is small at most latitudes and grows towards the poles. Either way, the figures are provided "as is" and without warranty of any kind. Real-world conditions — terrain, tall obstacles, weather and atmospheric refraction — can shift the times you actually observe.
Do not rely on this site for any safety-critical, navigational, aviation, maritime, legal or commercial purpose. For such uses, consult an official source. We make no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time.
You may use the site freely for personal and informational purposes. You agree not to misuse the service, attempt to disrupt it, or use automated means to place an unreasonable load on it.
The design, text and original content of the site are the property of the site's operators. The underlying astronomical calculations rely on open-source software, which remains the property of its respective authors. You are welcome to link to the site.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Daylight Hours shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information provided by the site.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
The astronomical calculations behind this site come from open-source software and public algorithms; the resulting times are facts about the physical world and are not something anyone can own. You are welcome to use figures you read here for your own purposes, and to link to any page on the site.
What we do ask is that you do not republish the site's written articles wholesale, and that if you present our figures as a data feed you do not imply that we have verified them for your particular use. If you want to display live day-length data on your own site, the supported route is our embeddable widget, which requires no account and no key. For anything larger, or for an integration you would like us to know about, please get in touch.
We do not currently offer a public API, and we have no objection to reasonable automated use. "Reasonable" means at a rate a human could plausibly generate and with a user agent that identifies you. Sustained high-volume scraping degrades the site for everyone and may be blocked. If you need bulk data, ask us rather than crawling — SunCalc is open source and you can run the same calculations yourself for nothing.
Nothing on the site requires an account. If you choose to create one — to save locations or receive notifications — you are responsible for the email address you sign in with, and you may delete the account and its data at any time from your account page. We may suspend an account that is being used to abuse the service. Sign-in is passwordless, so there is no password for us to lose.
The site is free and is funded by advertising. Ads are supplied by third parties, and their content is not something we select or endorse. We do not place advertising on our legal or information pages. How advertising interacts with your data is covered in the privacy policy.
These terms are governed by Danish law, and any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably falls to the Danish courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your own country of residence. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
